Thames Valley Police wants to trace a man it believes may help its inquiry into a rape on 9 September and an attempted rape on 23 September on Conniburrow redways. Quote 43260474579.

Thames Valley Police has released images of a man it wants to speak to after a rape and an attempted rape on redways in Conniburrow.

The force issued the appeal on its website on Thursday afternoon. It says the man “may have information to assist us”. It has not described him as a suspect.

Updated 24 October: on 21 October the force issued a further appeal. It wants Ring doorbell, CCTV or dash cam footage of a man on a bicycle between 8pm and 11pm on Wednesday 23 September. It is asking people who live in Conniburrow, Bradwell, Bradwell Common, Linford Wood and Heelands, and the other areas on its published map, to check their recordings. The two men arrested remain on conditional bail, and the force still does not believe the incidents are linked to any other offences in the area.

What the police have said

The force has published these details:

  • Between 8.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday 9 September, a woman in her thirties was raped by a man on a redway by the pedestrian bridge between Conniburrow and Milton Keynes, in the force’s words.
  • Shortly before 9.20pm on Wednesday 23 September, a man attempted to rape a woman in her fifties on a redway in Conniburrow.
  • Both women are being supported by officers.
  • A 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Milton Keynes, were arrested on suspicion of rape and attempted rape. Both have been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
  • Officers have carried out house-to-house enquiries and CCTV scoping in the area.

The force says the images “are not clear”. It hopes someone may recognise the man, or that he may recognise himself.

Detective Inspector Graeme Williams, of Milton Keynes’ Criminal Investigation Department, said in the force’s statement:

“I appreciate how concerned the local community may be to hear of these incidents, and want to assure you that detectives have been following every line of enquiry available.

“Based on the information available to us at the current time, we do not believe these incidents to be linked to any other offences in the area. Officers have been on patrol and will continue to carry out enquiries locally.”

He added that officers on patrol are happy to talk to anyone with questions, information or concerns.

A separate appeal from Broughton Brook

The force is also appealing over a separate incident. It says a 16-year-old girl was raped at Broughton Brook between 9.40pm and 10.45pm on Saturday 10 October. Details and a description are in that separate appeal. The force has not linked it to the Conniburrow incidents.
