Bletchley Park opens 9.30am to 4pm from 1 November, last entry 2pm, and shuts 24 to 26 December. Christmas events run on 14 days from 5 December. Prices here.
Bletchley Park stays open all winter, but the day gets shorter. From Sunday 1 November it opens from 9.30am to 4pm, and the last admission is 2pm. It closes on 24, 25 and 26 December only. Bletchley Park itself recommends four to five hours for a visit, so in winter you need to arrive in the morning to see it all.

Two rules make it cheaper than it looks:
- Every ticket is an annual pass. Bletchley Park’s FAQs promise “unlimited free returns for a year” from your first visit. A ticket bought for half term also covers Christmas.
- Local residents get 50% off. The discount is for people “living within a ten-mile radius”, with proof of address. Its Plan a Visit page lists the postcodes that qualify.
Christmas at Bletchley Park
Christmas at Bletchley Park runs on 14 days in December and is included in admission:
- Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December
- Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December
- Friday 18 to Wednesday 23 December
- Monday 28 to Thursday 31 December.
On those days costumed characters play wartime staff around the site. The Bletchley Park Drama Society rehearses its pantomime, Cinderella, through the day, and the audience is encouraged to join in. Visitors can make 1940s style decorations from scrap paper and coded messages. Afternoon tea in the Dining Room has to be booked.
The site is open as usual on the December days in between, without the Christmas programme.
The Christmas grotto
The Vintage Christmas Grotto runs at weekends and in the school holidays from 5 to 23 December. It costs £15 a person plus a booking fee, for adults and children alike. The ticket includes a day on site. Annual passes are not valid for it. Relaxed sessions for children who need a quieter visit run on 12 and 18 December.
Our Santa’s grotto page has the session times, and compares it with the grottos at centre:mk and Milton Keynes Museum.
Before Christmas
- Halloween at Boo-letchley Park, 26 to 31 October. A code trail for families across the site, included in admission. It falls in the local half term; see our half term page.
- Talk: Behind Enemy Lines with Damien Lewis, 7 November. Tickets are £20, in the Fellowship Auditorium, according to the events list.
Getting there and parking
Bletchley Park says it has “limited free parking on site”. On very busy days the car parks fill and visitors may be asked to park nearby.
If you are coming by train to Bletchley station, check our trains page and our Christmas travel page before you set off. For road closures see the roadworks page, and for town centre car parks our parking page.
Worth knowing
- Dogs are not allowed, apart from registered assistance dogs.
- The site is fully wheelchair accessible, and wheelchairs can be borrowed.
- The National Museum of Computing is separate. It shares the site but is an independent museum with its own admission fee and opening times.
Still to be confirmed
- Opening on New Year’s Day. Bletchley Park lists only 24 to 26 December as closed, but its Christmas programme ends on 31 December.
- Grotto session times by date, which appear in the booking system.
We will check the listings again on 2 November, after the move to winter hours.
