The lantern trail at Gulliver's opens on Saturday 17 October and runs 60 nights to 27 February. Last entry is 6.45pm on most nights; 19 are dog-friendly.
Land of Lights, the lantern trail at Gulliver’s in Milton Keynes, opens for 2026 on Saturday 17 October and runs on 60 nights until Saturday 27 February 2027. It is not open every night. The organiser’s calendar shows it shut for Bonfire Night week, open only Friday to Sunday for most of November, open almost every night from 9 December to 23 December, at weekends only from 9 January, and on Saturdays only in February.
The quick answer
- Is it on this year? Yes. The organiser’s site says “Land of Lights Milton Keynes Returns Winter 2026”, with new lantern displays, and early bird tickets are on sale now. Milton Keynes was the first Land of Lights; there are now others at Warrington and Rother Valley.

- Last entry is 6.45pm on most nights and 6pm from January, well before closing. Allow about 90 minutes for the one mile trail.
- Shut: 2 to 6 November (including Bonfire Night), Monday to Thursday through most of November, Christmas Day to 27 December, and weekdays after 3 January.
- Where: Gulliver’s Dinosaur & Farm Park, Frobisher Gate, Newlands, MK15 0DT. Parking is free.

Every date and time on this page was read from the organiser’s own opening times calendar on 4 October 2026.

The gap to plan around is early November. After Sunday 1 November the trail is shut until Saturday 7 November, then opens only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (plus Sunday 8 November) until the end of the month. From Thursday 3 December it opens on most nights, and from 19 to 23 December it stays open until 9pm every night.
The last entry time is the one that catches people out. On a standard night the trail closes at 8.15pm but nobody is let in after 6.45pm. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve last entry is 5.15pm, and from January it is 6pm.
Halloween week, 24 to 31 October
The organiser sells a Halloween upgrade for 24 to 31 October: a Trick or Treat bucket to carry round the route and swap with the spooks for treats, “from just £4.95pp”, on top of the entry ticket. (Halloween at Land of Lights)
Unlike some of the other Land of Lights sites, Milton Keynes is open on Halloween itself, Saturday 31 October, from 5pm. That whole week is also the Milton Keynes half term. Our Halloween page has the daytime side, including Gulliver’s own Fright Fiesta in the theme park and the pumpkin farms.
The Children in Need Glow Walk, Sunday 8 November
The one special night in November is a Children in Need Glow Walk on Sunday 8 November, 5pm to 8.15pm. Land of Lights says £2 of every Glow Walk ticket goes to BBC Children in Need. Walkers get a “Challenge Accomplished” certificate, a free reward for wearing glow accessories, and one free Gulliver’s theme park ticket each, valid at any Gulliver’s park in 2027. It is also a dog-friendly night. (Children in Need Glow Walk)
Dog-friendly nights
Dogs are allowed on 19 nights only, kept on a short lead, with water bowls and waste bins round the trail. They are not allowed into the indoor dining areas or the animal barn. (Dog-friendly nights)
- October: Sunday 18, Sunday 25, Wednesday 28
- November: Sunday 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
- December: Sunday 6, Wednesday 9, Sunday 13, Wednesday 16, Sunday 20, Wednesday 23, Wednesday 30
- January: Sunday 3, 10, 17 and 24
There are no dog nights in February.
Tickets and prices
Land of Lights does not print its entry prices on its information pages. They appear only in the booking system, where early bird tickets are on sale now at what it calls “our lowest prices available for a limited time only”. The published rules are:
- Pre-booking is cheaper. You can buy at the gate if the night has not sold out, but “you’ll always get a better price when you pre-book 2 days or more in advance”.
- Tickets are non-refundable. You may be able to move to another date up to 24 hours before your visit, subject to availability and a fee, or pass the tickets on to someone else.
- It is a separate event. Entry does not include any of Gulliver’s rides, and it is not covered by a Gulliver’s annual passport.
There is no senior rate: anyone 16 or over pays the adult price. The concession rate needs proof on arrival, a Blue Badge or a DLA or PIP letter with photo ID, and covers one essential companion. A separate “Lifesaver” rate is open to holders of a Max Card, an NHS employee card, a Blue Light Card or an MOD card. (Concessions)
The only published price that includes the trail is Gulliver’s Christmas Twinkle package, from £39, which adds theme park entry from 1pm, the Winter Wonderland and Santa’s grotto, then an evening at Land of Lights. The other Christmas packages are on our Santa’s grotto page. (Christmas at Gulliver’s)
What is on the trail
The organiser describes new lantern displays for 2026 on a route of about a mile, with portals into “dreamworlds”, larger than life lanterns and photo points along the way. Gulliver’s own description mentions dinosaurs and fairytale kingdoms. (Land of Lights Milton Keynes)
For food and drink there are drinks stalls round the trail with hot drinks, a licensed bar, food vendors, and the Raptor Restaurant and Grill at the entrance and exit plaza for a sit-down meal. Firepits halfway round and at the end are for toasting marshmallows; bags cost £5.50. The firepits may be put out in bad weather. (Food and drinks)
On access, the organiser says the Milton Keynes route is on firm ground and mostly flat, with only very slight slopes, so it suits wheelchairs and pushchairs. Accessible toilets are on the route.
Getting there and parking
The trail’s address is Gulliver’s Dinosaur & Farm Park, Frobisher Gate, Newlands, Milton Keynes, MK15 0DT, near Willen Lake, and parking is free. From the M1, leave at junction 14 and follow the brown signs. From the city centre, follow signs for Willen Lake until you pick up the brown Gulliver’s signs. (How to find us)
Without a car, the organiser suggests the number 8 bus (Oxley Park to Walnut Tree) to Woolstone Roundabout, then the first left on the Redway and the first turning on the left, Frobisher Gate. The number 3 bus runs to Pagoda Roundabout, with signs from there. It says the walk from the centre takes about 50 minutes and a taxi from Milton Keynes Central station about five. Check the last bus home before you set off, because the trail closes after 8pm on most nights.
For parking in the city centre before or after, see our parking in Milton Keynes page, and for grid road closures on the way in, our roadworks and travel page.
What else is on
Gulliver’s Fireworks Spectacular in the theme park is on Saturday 7 November, when Land of Lights is also open; the town displays are on our fireworks page. Stony Stratford switches on its Christmas lights on Saturday 21 November; the full list is on our Christmas lights page, and the month ahead is on what’s on in Milton Keynes.
Checked 4 October 2026. We will update this page when the organiser changes the calendar or publishes prices outside the booking system.
